Lady-like

Societies of today and yesteryear have set up strict rules for women to follow without protest. Sometimes these rules are covert, staying normalized until they are more closely examined. Just like these invisible guidelines, this collage-like piece is meant to mimic the seemingly haphazard and contradictory nature of gender roles. Using a multi-media approach with pen and ink, colored pencils, and alcohol markers, Lady-like embodies the three-dimensionality of womanhood and feminine presenting individuals are forced to piece together their own identities with whatever materials they can firmly grasp onto.
