In the present-day metropolitan borough of Leeds, Yorkshire, Malachi Tobin is in a state of dissociation. With a long history of clinical depression and a rather unlucky love life, the depression and a rather unlucky love life, the twenty-year-old former musical prodigy is one step away from complete mental and emotional detachment. So, when presented with the opportunity to experiment with DMT, a potent psychoactive drug, he feels as though he has nothing to lose. However, when his sober eyes suddenly catch sight of the “angel” he had previously hallucinated during his psychedelic trip, Malachi is roused from the state of disenchantment he had been so deeply immersed in. Now begs the question: Should he stay passive or embrace the disruption?

Solace is a poignant and intimate examination of the lives and dynamics of individuals in the LGBTQ+ community that touches on relevant concepts such as mental health awareness, found family, and self-identity.
